Our history
Skyros Marine was founded by Corben Nel, who found himself facing retrenchment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Corben started a small electrical business based on his experience and connections within the marine industry. Starting small, Corben quickly began building a trusted name for himself in the Port Elizabeth Harbour. Working closely with those in the marine industry Corben became known for his hands-on problem-solving skills.
While the marine industry remained his core focus Corben successfully tapped into booming markets, taking on projects in standby power, generator maintenance, and electronic repairs. The marine industry was always the consistent presence within the business. Slowly as he obtained more work with local shipyards Skyros Marine emerged. With his industry knowledge Corben understand the challenges that are faced by the marine industry and aims to bridge the gap within the industry by providing quality affordable products that can be manufactured locally as well as providing skills that are reliable and standardised to the work he and the team do.
Corben’s unique skills and passion for finding the best solution for the client along with the consistent quality results provided to shipyards has created Skyros Marine into what it is today.
